What's up folks. . . this is the third installment of my rhyme of the week series, recorded live at The Depot Coffee House in Hopkins, MN (http://www.thedepotcoffeehouse.com). I wrote this verse the day before yesterday just for you folks. Feel free to spread this about. I hope you enjoy it.

"Dead. . . from the neck up or so it seems like
and i've pushed the limits of that subject in my free writes
The writer's block, the brain freeze, the never ending dream, fight
between ambition and the mind, the penury of me, light bulb
flickers, a slight flow enters, my spiteful center
keeps writing so this might go quicker
the inner anguish as fuel turns drools of withered spanglish
to pools of spit to vanquish inhibitions in my basement
Face it, touch it, confront it and get above it
monologue of my soul when pushing pens to swallow nothings
digested defenselessness in my connections
of syllables to break the free expression through a sentence
or two. . . now thats out the way, lets get these embers
to grow to blazing fires of inspired in the winter
weather roadblocks, keep driving whether or not the road stops
float on wings of know-nots to make it bubble on the stove top
feel the sizzle? pull back the drapes, reveal the window
what waits reveals the meaning of the puzzle in the symbol
and takes you on the journey through to manhood from a minnow
and breaks the bigness and shows the universe inside a thimble
oh my its simple, when put in that perspective
the thoughts that tickle brains, hiking pens across neglected
terrain, forgotten knowledge, estranged, yet popped like collicks
or collars, unconscious struggles for its footing in the process
noxious when taken in, I may contend and
luck into the waves, face the break, taste the wind
all these currents hit rocks, now caged, my brain is penned
within these 28 bars, my current self is placed within"

Rhyme of the Week 2: 12/08/09

What's up folks. . . this is the second installment of my rhyme of the week recorded live hanging out in the folk section at Shuga Records (http://shugarecords.com) in North East Minneapolis. I wrote this verse after reading an analysis of Finnegan's Wake so its kind of vague and abstract. I hope you dig it.

"Through the hallowed haze of days swallowed I follow
rays of sunlight laid on borrowed holidays; another's hollandaise
rather than wallow in sorrow's maze, I gaze at Kahlo's Dali's
brain's museo de feo 'cevedo's mild escape
Lake's reflect opaque late decept-ion
taste innate scraped from the plate defacing heaven
Leavened lumps of languished saved in spanglish, jumped
into the venom, lead in and swimming in Drunk As Drunk
Past ghost hopes emoted wrote written broke
fists gripping slipping submitting to given post before you
Greater elegy left, lemmings yelling, telling me
sketch me cleft chest piece on looseleaf left bereft
accept her Seth to me, except for his acceptance speech
in attempts by me to be all heart on some synechdoche
I see whats left of keys floating in moats surrounding hopes
discarded departing ropes swinging singing "No longer part of
of no existence". . . to the tune of heartbeats
banging drums as dreams awake in the distance"

Rhyme Of The Week 1: 12/01/09

--Every Tuesday I will be filming one rhyme of the week, one verse filmed in one of many various locations. The debut episode was filmed at the Psi.Dweys studio in NE Minneapolis.

"I write poems in empty crossword blocks that ride your minds treadmill and jog thoughts, I used to talk in circles but now that i've seen squares decided to push syllables against sides and work the angles, I dangle on high wires that have defined liars and perspire the breakbeats that I rhyme to, the sun dries lakes just for for to run its surface and in return I spill enough prose to fill its cavity, inhale negativity/exhale tragedy, perform sonnets and soliloquys dramatically, magically create casualties with gramtically incorrect phrases that stick without the static cling, I could score your life with a blank canvas, create a scene to turn your dreams into a sandwich, chill on swings that ring of Pete Sampras, in parks after dark or float on wings of salmon, that swim oceans to arrive where they've spawned, and realize all that they were is gone and that, life isn't long, appreciate the cost, and he who uses his time depreciates the loss, i've searched my pockets for a muse, opened my consciousness consumed by the moon, created a symphony of whistles, never found a tune, fell in love with the cacophony and rested in my tomb of which, I've painted prior with my blood and gassed the liner, so when I speak the lighter I could dwell inside my fire, liquify my physical, burn throughout my choir, detoxify my soul and let it rise up out the mire, let my beats speak volumes, let my words paint pictures, let my emotions be the catalyst that blows the roof off this sucker and destroys all the fixtures, I want to be the dance that satisfies your speakers and pleases the orishas of your fantasies knapsack, lookk outside its material, exercise an aerial, through outlandish prose and flows of abstracts"
