The Show Is This Saturday!!

We have had a few rehearsals so far for this show coming up on saturday and I have to say that it just blows my mind. This shit sounds so fuckin' dope lol.

Yesterday, we rehearsed with the brass section for three hours and its just a crazy thing to listen to. Most often when I work on these tracks, I think of how they would be played with live instrumentation. I make conscious choices about what drums are played, what particular horns are used, about whether I should let a loop run or if I should chop it, etc. I am terrible at bass parts mostly lol. But it's just sick to hear this all brought out with little bits accentuated.

Darian is a real asset at these rehearsals. There is things that I do not have the full musical vocabulary to verbalize, so its nice to have someone there that does and knows what I am looking for without asking.

Its also a beautiful thing to have Will on guitar again. Its actually been really interesting. When we had (soda) Pop, he was actually the least enthused cat in the band when it came to writing and things of the like and now he seems to be really amped and excited about the things that we are doing and what he is playing and singing. Plus, as an added bonus, it is the first time he and Juan (his cousin) have ever played a show together.

I feel blessed to be respected enough by these cats to have them put time and effort into this one show that they probably won't see much money from lol. I heard a bunch of "for you I will do it" kind of comments and that's much needed boost for me.

Hopefully, it will be a successful night on Saturday and a lot of folks will come out and have a good time.
