Whattup people.
I was digging through my old tracks today and listened to this diss track I did way back in the day. I figure I'd share it with ya'll since its pretty funny to me when I look back on it. Here is a quick rundown as I remember it.
Basically way back when Sketch and my boy Dre were kings of Connecticut TV and they had a show called "hole up and Analyze" on public access TV where they would have rappers up there for interviews and performances. Every now and again they would have these dope sessions where madd Waterbury heads would get up and spit verses and just kick it.
I can’t remember if it was a regular session or a battle but for whatever reason this one dude was bugging me with the shit he was rhyming about. He was saying he was "the most dangerous MC” and talking madd shit about how dope he was.
Well basically I stepped to him politely and asked if he wanted to battle it out live on TV. But he was like "Na, man i don’t battle" or some shit like that. I thought it was funny and I kept trying to get him to battle me but he just would do it.
Whatever, time passes and I put out my first release which was an EP called "Stellar evolution" and I did this Diss track referencing one of that dudes lines. The track was called "the Bootleg Beatbox." which by the way I provided the awful beatbox. Now, I didn’t call him out by name but I made sure he would be able to know I was talking about him.
Anyway this part of the story is a little fuzzy but as I recall he heard the track and was heated. He went on "hold up and analyze" Shitting on me and talking about he wanted to battle for $1000. His boy or cousin supposedly was goanna put $1000 that this dude DMS was goanna beat me in a battle. Then he did this diss track about me, which they played on the air where he just got mad personal. I heard that shit and was like WORD!!
Well’ I declined to battle for dough and Instead decided to respond to his diss track with one of my own. I made the beat, wrote the lyrics, and recorded myself that same weekend. I titled it "last Response" cause I wasn’t goanna bother with an ongoing beef with someone I considered a cornball.
Anyhow I remember Dre and Sketch played both my track and his track back to back on Hold up and Analyze to see who's was better. They Played his, then they played mine. The look on their faces was priceless...lol. I hope you got that on tape somewhere Sketch.
Well that’s what I can remember about that little tiff. Here are both of my tracks I wrote about in the blog in the player below. I don't have his response but trust me.... It was wack.
