Are you a body or a mind?

What's up folks? My blog is going to be a great place to think critically and here others opinions and ideas. This initial blog is basically asking the following question: Are you a body or a mind, or both. In other words, are you simply an animal with no soul or spirit existing in the physical realm, or something more? Is there a soul or spirit that dwells in your body but is seperate from it, and not of the physical world. Or maybe, you are both. Maybe your body and mind exist in a symbiotic existence. Anyway, get your ideas up here and lets see what your thinking.

Bodies are just vehicles for spirits/minds. Our spirit resides in our minds, within our body. I guess I kinda just said the same thing as almost everyone in a few sentences

I think that referring to the mind as a soul is soo old school philosophy. Aristotelian thinkers say the mind is the soul. Can't the mind be the combination of sensory cells that exist in the brain? If one believes in the soul, one shouldn't refer to it as the mind. I agree deto-22 in that the mind is the source of creativity and all the feelings we have are produced by the mind, but i disagree in that the mind is not apart of the body. It is apart of the brain, the body, everything we as humans perceive via our senses is VIA OUR SENSES and we need to realize that the body is made so we can understand and use certain things.

well....yes. you just answered the question kind of.
but, i'm not saying they are lies...or made up beliefs.
and just because we can't "understand" something doesn't mean it's not "reality".
time is still time...the numbers we gave it was so we can comprehend it. but for what it's worth, it's larger than us. it's still there though. real as ever.

We are simply here, but in regards to the actual question we are both a body and a mind. It is our body that reminds that we have the same origins as every other organism, and it is our mind that separates us from them.

I want to start by saying...why can't animals have souls? i mean... can we definitively say that they don't? that aside, the question of whether we are a body or a mind simply arises from our quest for purpose. Soul or not, humans are the only species known to be able to actually think, and I mean THINK. We are the only species that wonders "why?" and as we developed as a species and our ability to think beyond basic living needs expanded, and we could truly understand our existence, we asked..."why?" To be simple, there is no answer. No deeper meaning to our existence.

I believe that we are both, body and mind. But I think we are more mind than body because the mind control everything. And humans have to think before taking actions. Also,many people say that mind is really powerful, with it we can do things that seem to be impossible; although we don't know how to use it yet. The body is the shell that protects the mind, so this is important too. I think that both of these are a really important part of human beings because without them we wouldn't be able to be who we are and how we do things =]

i personally think that the mind has way more power then the body, but both have there advantages. A person's mind is a very powerful thing. Without a mind there would be no action. it has physical control over one. our desicions that we make on a daily basis are based on what we feel and think. All of our actions are controlled by the mind.

personally i think we are body and mind because the body is the house of the mind or the car for the mind. which let you show it. also with out body you cant have or show your mind.
