I love hip-hop. Anything creative sparks my interest, as long as when the artist makes it, regardless of other material they put out, the song is truly from them and creative. Yes, this includes some of the artists that I, as a "hip-hop head," am supposed to hate and call garbage and so on, but I have too much respect for the craft to do so. About me? My favorite rapper is Lupe Fiasco. Aside from Aesop Rock, who I never really could get into only because his instrumentals overpower his lyrics, I feel that Lupe Fiasco pushes the limits of using language and sentence structure to be creative in sending an everyday message. I love Jay-z and the way he lets himself go on his albums. "The Black Album" is my favorite album from him, and December 4th might be my favorite song of all time. I love what the Kidz in the Hall did as a team on "School Was My Hustle," and the album "Below the Heavens" by Blu and Exile changed my perspective on music as a whole. I make beats... I'm not a producer. Sketch the Cataclysm is a producer. If I'm lucky, I'll be half that. I make beats solely because I need to rap over SOMETHING. I live for studio time. My dream is to own a recording studio specifically for me and whoever I want to record in it. I would have tracks for yeeeaaars son. I have tried to stop doing music before, and can't seem to let it go. It's in me. In my veins, in my blood. I just need the right outlet, need to meet the right people. I KNOW there's someone out there that wants to hear me, and I just need the right people to help me. My man Alex is trying, and hopefully this turns out well. I'm only 19, but I've been through some SHIT with managers, promotional companies, etc. I just hope everything goes well, or I'll spend the rest of my life spending my money on studio time for my personal enjoyment. You can only sacrifice food for a week but so many times. Trust me, I know. Anyone who enjoys my music, tell me. Anyone who can lend a hand or a dollar to help my career? Please, I'm way beyond turning it down. I will be forever grateful, and they will never be forgotten. Thanks to Ant Farm Affiliates for this site and having me on it, shoutouts in the next song. Holla back. BX all day.... ONE.

I dig Aesop... about half the time... but my favorite Aesop tracks are those in which he doesn't seem to be on LSD. Still, I appreciate how he pushes boundaries that nobody else cares to push, somebody's got to, to further and expand the art of hip-hop. But this is probably my favorite track that features Mr. Aesop's fables.

you all shall perish who disrespect AES RIZZLE!
lol
just playin'
i think from a producers stand-point he's a lyrical animal.
i like an mc that's a challenge to produce around. a
nd lyrically i like to be challanged, i want to listen to it and walk away with things to d_cypher for days to come.
also...i think subconciencely, he spits how i would want to ...if i had what it takes to be an "mc"
that over-all is why i got hooked on him from the rip i'm sure.

i listened to lupe...a few times. and he hasn't done it for me. Not that he's whack by any means...
just not my cup of earl grey.

anyway homie...p's to you. welcome to the farm.
sure we'll all cross paths when you venture to our neck of the woods.

You're definitely speaking everybody's language in this post, fam. I'm a big fan of Jay and Lupe, too. And I love those Sketch beats, especially when I get to spit over 'em ;)

Aesop puts me to sleep, for the record.

Great interview. I'm always awed by the artistry of engineering. Like Hawl, I'm just a rapper, but the process of mixing and the ear that the engineer brings to a project to make the vocals pop and the vocals and the beat mesh has always intrigued m…
